Promoting the ratification and application of ILO Convention No. 190: Experiences and good practices from Asia and the Pacific
This report has been prepared to support key stakeholders in their efforts to prevent and eliminate violence and harassment in the world of work in Asia and the Pacific.
While most countries in Asia and the Pacific have laws prohibiting discrimination and sexual harassment at the workplace, violence and harassment remains a pervasive issue and governments and employers’ and workers’ organizations are strengthening their efforts and implementing measures in line with Convention No. 190 and Recommendation No. 206 to realize a world of work free from violence and harassment for all.
Violence and harassment at work is a widespread phenomenon around the world, with more than one in five (22.8 per cent, or 743 million) persons in employment having experienced at least one form of violence and harassment at work during their working life.

• explanations of key concepts related to violence and harassment in the world of work;
• the importance of ratification of Convention No. 190;
• explanations of the provisions of Convention No. 190 and Recommendation No. 206;
• and illustrations of promising initiatives to prevent and address violence and harassment in the word of work in line with Convention No. 190 and Recommendation No. 206.
It is hoped that this report will facilitate further action by governments, employers’ organizations and workers’ organizations in Asia and the Pacific towards ratification and application of Convention No. 190.
