The United States of America is a key partner of the ILO in advancing decent work and social justice worldwide.
The ILO works closely with the US Department of Labour, US Department of State, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) on the promotion of fundamental principles and rights at work. As member 8.7 Alliance, US Department of Labour supports ending forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking and child labour. The USA also contribute to enhancing decent work and competitiveness in the global garment industry through Better work, as well as improving workers' rights and working conditions including in the agro-export sector, the apparel sector, the fishing sector, coffee supply chains and the cobalt industry.
Furthermore, the ILO benefits from American expertise through the country’s participation in the Junior Professional Officer programme.
